COMPLETED
2006
Our goal for this kitchen renovation was a logical reordering of the Civil War era residence, while exercising minimal change to the existing structure. We began the reorganization process by clarifying circulation patterns. By adding another connection between the kitchen and living areas, we created a small vestibule outside of the kitchen where the powder room was relocated. This repositioning allowed the pantry to be conveniently placed next to the kitchen. The small rear porch was enclosed and converted into a mudroom, supplying storage for the young family. A 4 ft deep x 11 ft wide addition accommodates the breakfast area, employing new French doors and double-hung windows, thereby introducing more natural light.
