When commissioned to design a master bedroom addition for this residence, we chose to use what little programmatic area we were given to its fullest poetic advantage – a “more with less” approach.

Lifting the addition on pilotis, the new bedroom is aligned with the former bedroom, which is now a sitting room, to produce a master suite. The new terrace created beneath the addition provides a shaded retreat for users of the nearby pool and bocce ball court. When the large window wall of the master bedroom is folded open, the custom bed can move along recessed tracks onto the elevated terrace – bringing the indoors out and permitting comfortable nights to be spent under the stars.
